3Don't Buy For USA!!!  Jul 18, 2010
I love the theme/software Navigon uses; had a very old Navigon GPS from 2007 that I bought in Italy with USA maps installed. It worked well there and here. So I disregarded all the negative reviews about the support and USA Navigon going out of business. Well, after 2 weeks I am selling it on eBay b/c the store on Amazon only had a 7 day return policy. I could not use the registration link to register my new 2200T in order to purchase the Fresh map update on-line. So I ordered it online and had the card shipped to me for another $85. Mean while driving around with 2008 maps. Had to go spend another $20 for a 4GB micro-sd-chip so the new map could download. Got the 2010 1Q map installed with no problem. I spent an hour lost today because it could not find any address I was going to, like the Super Target...only showed one in San Antonio! Tried to go to the movies and it could not locate the address. Very disappointing. The only customer support you will get is via e-mail when they respond to you in 3-4 days only to tell you that they cannot help you. The GPS commonly takes 10 minutes to find satelites. Not impressed and after going through all the hoops to get the newest map and seeing how inaccurate it is I do not plan on getting Navigon software for my new smart phone. Saddened. Navigon was awesome and should have stuck to the GPS hardware. All POI's are 2008! I asked support if I could upgrade to the 2300 software and they said only if I was in Europe. I just bought a Garmin 1690!

3Battery charge doesn't last  Jul 05, 2010
Pros:
- This GPS is stylish, sleek
- very good interface.
- Lane assist is fantastic

Cons
- the battery life is very short. During the day it won't last more than 10 minutes.
- Started from complete shut off, it takes 3-7 minutes to get the satellite signal.
- Finding point of interests is difficult because you have to navigate throuch bunch of filters or options. You can't search by free text, for example 'Mc Donalds' intead you may have to go through restaurants->fast food -> American and if you are lucky you will get to 'Mc Donalds' else you will to again go through same painful selections.
- Sometimes the GPS freezes, so you have to allow it to do whatever it is processing in background.

4Good GPS  May 19, 2010
Good GPS for price at the time I purchased. The price is not as competative as it was when I bought it. When I purchased this product it was by far the best price for free traffic and ability to update maps. All GPS's have issues as dose this one that is why it only gets four stars. Doesn't give perfect directions but is better than some friends tom tom and garmin units. Don't let the non brand name scare you off this is a quality unit. Clips on windshield nicely, bright screen from all angles even in direct sunlight, traffic update works, clear maps showing you where to go with exact number of lanes and road sign. It's like the GPS has a picture of the exact road in front of you and overlays orange arrows over the road you need to be on (you can't mess it up if you look at the screen when the lady talks). If I had to buy another GPS for some reason I would buy this again because I've seen some really bad ones that are name brand for just as much or more than this one. So even though it isn't perfect I know what I'm getting with this one and would buy it again.

2Was Great , but now not so good  Apr 21, 2010
I bought this in early 2009 and should start off by saying that I had to return the first unit after a few weeks. It was taking forever to pickup satellites. Navigon tech made some attempts at hard rebooting the device but ultimately had to return the unit for a replacement. The second one worked much better but several months later it started crashing with a low memory error msg. Navigon tech suggested that I perform a software upgrade which I did and another hard reboot, lost all my saved data again. After the software upgrade the thing sometimes takes too long to acquire satellites. I no longer select a destination from "recent trips" as this seems to cause the low memory issues.

Why put up with all this you ask, well because the traffic alerts were great, spot on to the tenth of a mile. Traveling through some boroughs of New York City I knew that any alerts noting slow moving traffic was just volume and I could ignore. Whenever the alerts contained "stopped" or "stop and go" traffic I would consider taking an alternate route.

Unfortunately the traffic alerts are no longer very useful, either I don't get them at all or you get them far too late.

As a GPS unit the directions work great, the audio alerts are clear, do not confuse and are given to you in enough time so you can react. The visual display is nice too, especially when it comes to merging roads and off ramps.

I really liked it in 2009 but I would NOT recommend it for its traffic functionality anymore.

3Great, except for what it is suppoed to do....  Feb 03, 2010
I would give this 5 Stars if only it worked... sigh.

After searching reviews online and being swayed by an editors pick at LapTop magazine (which I love) I choose this nav system becasue it was affordable, had real time traffic, was good at what it was suppoed to do (navigate) and no bells and whistles I didn't need (mp3, blue tooth).

After using this device for 2 weeks I finally gave up and ordered a Garmin which works great.

Heres the deal...

Pros - easy to use, small and compact (less viewing screen, but fits nicely in any pocket), love the display easy to read, voice not annnoying, best feature is the dodge traffic icon (red flag) that pops up and with one click you are avoiding traffic nightmares. Garmin could learn something here.

Cons - It can NEVER find a signal near my house. I live right next to the ocean and maybe that has something to do with it??? It works great in other areas, but just not within 5-10 miles of home which is frustrating becasue that is where the journey always begins. So I give it one star for my location.

Ultimately I kept it as a backup but I never use it anymore.
